Inspect before packing away
Use the time after an outing to check the remote, caller, straps, and cables. Look for visible damage, loose parts, debris, or signs that an item needs attention. Make a note while the problem is easy to remember. Packing a known issue away usually means rediscovering it when you are ready to leave.
Follow the supplied care instructions
Use the cleaning, charging, battery, and storage directions supplied with your equipment. Do not infer an immersion rating or a cleaning method from a product photograph. Keep charging contacts and connections clean and dry as directed, and stop using damaged equipment until the issue has been addressed. This routine does not replace the product's operating or battery instructions.
Check the complete setup
A charged remote does not tell you whether the rest of the kit is ready. Check the caller's power source and any separate lights or navigation equipment. Put cables and other essentials back in their regular place. If you changed a setting or a preset, leave yourself a note so the next outing begins with the setup you expect.
Leave the next trip a simple start
Finish with the smallest useful list: one item to replace, one task to complete, or one setting to check. The goal is a repeatable reset rather than a complicated maintenance ritual. Before the next outing, run through the short field checklist and the supplied quick-start guide again.
